The true story about the real rescue kitties that inspired my new book TINY KITTY, BIG CITY.
Below are photos of the real-life stray kitties that inspired TINY KITTY, BIG CITY. Here is the first time I saw Tiny Kitty in the wild.
Here is a better view of where they were living.
All the kitties were very hungry and happy to eat.
Here are Cashew, Jojo, Jon Snow, and Edie, the day they were rescued. They were very frightened in the beginning and smooshed into a corner where they felt safe.
With lots of love and care though, it didn't take them long to feel comfortable and settle in.
Here is Mama making a surprise studio visit. It's hard for me to look at this photo and not cry. She had so much trauma from her experience that she stayed hidden under a futon. I would leave a trail of treats each day to try and lure her out, and eventually it worked. The day I took this picture I was absorbed in my work. Then I turned, and there she was.
It was really difficult not to keep them. If you don't believe me, here's poof.
I would like to express my sincere that to my friends at Jersey Cats, the local non-profit cat rescue who helped Mama, Cashew, Jojo, Edie, and Jon Snow find their forever homes. If you're interested in adopting and/or supporting a good cause, please visit them here, or you can reach out to a local rescue near you as well!
Tiny Kitty, Big City, is now available at a bookstores near you. Please remember to support your local indie. Thank you!
